Sherborne St John, Monk Sherborne, Ramsdell, Stoney Heath, Wolverton, Kingsclere, Sydmonton, Old Burghclere, Burghclere, Penwood, Woolton, East End, East Woodhay, Ball Hill then back same route but to Kinsgclere via Echinswell.

38.26 miles,  02:48 tm, 13.7mph pace

Early Saturday morning ride. Misty over the hills to start but soon brightened up. Lovely route. Shame the views of Watership Down & White Hill were a bit misty.

I had read somewhere that Oswald Mosely lived in or had property in East Woodhay but when I ask a couple of the locals if they knew which house it was, all I got was blank looks. Well, there's hardly going to be a Blue Plaque there now!! Oh, and one of the chaps I spoke to in the church car park corrected my pronunciation of East Woodhay........it's said as 'East Woody'. Bet he thought....bloody tourist!

Selborne - East Meon - West Meon - West Tisted - Ropley - Four Marks - Farringdon - Selborne
30.79 miles time 02:25  12.7mph pace

Bloody hard work on those hills south east of Selborne - cut my overall pace back a lot. Lovely route and worth it to cycle down into beautiful East Meon which looks something like a village in the Yorkshire Dales. Weather not as clear and sunny as yesterday but it got better as the morning went on.

Despite a cutting Easterly wind, a glorious ride mainly as an antidote to cycling in West London on the new commute this week. Great to be out there on Hampshire lanes.......not a bus lane, black cab or pedestrian in sight. Also got what is possibly my fastest max speed ever on a downhill near Farleigh Wallop: 35.9mph. Bliss.

Towers of London (...well, West London to be precise) - New Commute Ride from 28th Feb 2011

Started my new job in Ealing, West London, on Feb 28th. Daily bike mileage? No problem. I spent 11 years (1998-2009) some of my daily commute on a bike. Just takes a bit of planning a a place to park the car for free.
